Day Camp: Rising Pre-K - Rising Kindergarten

This section of camp is designed specifically for Rising Pre-K (aged 4 by Aug. 31, 2024)  and rising Kindergarten campers.

We are all about making sure your young camper has the summer of a lifetime with activities that will grow their minds and bodies, help them build relationships with other campers and foster independence and self confidence. Each week, campers will enjoy activities in the arts, science and physical movement with lots of water play. Our low camper-to-teacher ratio ensures that all children receive a high level of attention throughout the day.

Check out a sample daily schedule here.

Day Camp: Rising 1st - Rising 6th

Each week, campers will attend two morning classes a day, chosen before camp begins. Offerings will vary each week but will include Visual arts, Performing arts, Culinary, Robotics, STEAM and more. These deep dives into a camper’s chosen activity give them an opportunity to pursue their passions within a given field through a variety of activities. Choices will be sent out to parents in mid-April.  Register by March 15 to have early access to activity choices.

Afternoons will be devoted to special guest performances, camper talent shows, counselor comedy skits, water days (think big water slides and snowballs), and color team games. There will also be a period each afternoon where campers can choose an additional activity like sports, yoga, art, fort building, and lots more. These activities will be chosen on a weekly basis.

Week 7 will be all about fun.  Field Trips, daily water activities and team games will culminate our last week of camp.

Counselor in Training (CIT): Rising 7th & 8th Graders

Summer at McGehee provides a special experience for young girls and boys and an incredibly useful service to their families. Counselors in Training are a critical part of carrying out the vision of Summer at McGehee to meet the needs and expectations of everyone involved. As a Counselor in Training (CIT), they will gain experience in the field of camp counseling and working with children by learning camper-management, operational and leadership skills and putting them into practice.

Mornings will be spent engaging with campers in the classrooms of different age groups, learning leadership skills.
Afternoons, CIT’s will join in the FUN!  They will participate in water days, talent shows, team games, and more.

As a CIT this summer, you will learn a lot - about yourselves, about early childhood education, and what it takes to succeed in the professional world. (We’ll also have a good time doing it!)
