Technology

Upper School Student studying with her laptop

At McGehee, technology is an integral part of the learning experience.  We do not simply teach computer classes.  Rather, technology is used to enhance our curriculum and to teach our girls the skills they need to be successful and to keep pace with the constantly changing global technological advances.

Girls from sixth grade up to twelfth use their own laptop computers in every classroom.  They create videos, podcasts, websites, and online presentations.  They reference their teachers' websites for homework assignments and after-hours help.

Lower School Student learning at the computer

All younger classes share laptops from laptop carts and have desktop computers in the classroom that are used in various ways: for enrichment, reinforcement, and research.  Lower School students demonstrate their computer skills as they utilize multimedia programs in their presentations to parents.

Smartboard

State-of-the-art smartboards are used throughout campus, in lower, middle and upper school.  Smartboards are interactive whiteboard systems that have a touch-sensitive surface capable of controlling a computer.  Notes written on smartboards can be saved to the students' laptops.

McGehee's campus is completely wireless and we are committed to maintaining updated facilities, training faculty, and providing our students with the most advanced means of acquiring information.
