Little Gaters Celebrate the Chinese New Year
January 27th, 2023
While many may know this holiday as Chinese New Year, Vietnam's Tết Nguyên Đán or South Korea's Seolla, it is generally called the Lunar New Year because it signals the beginning of a new calendar year based on the phases of the moon. The 2023 Lunar New Year began on January 22nd and many Asian countries, but not all, celebrate this 15-day festival, which begins when the new moon is waxing and ends when the moon is full. Little Gate friends and families celebrated by wearing the color red for luck and blessings in the new year. The campus was adorned with red lanterns and knots, and the morning celebration culminated in the gym with a special performance by the Rising Dragon Lion Dance Team, which was generously donated by the Tom Family (Lily 2036, Ella 2028, Will 2039).
