Helen Kohnke

Painter and Photographer

Helen received her Bachelor of Fine Art from Meadows School of Art at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and her Masters from the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture in New York City. During her time in New York, Helen worked as a studio apprentice to artist Dorothea Rockburne and participated in several exhibitions and creative collaborations with Bumble Inc, Knot Standard, Force Gallery Projects, and more. She attended Willow House Artist Residency and Yale Summer Fellowship Program under Robert Reed where she pushed her work to new levels. She has received several honors such as the Steven Wilder Travel Award, Philip Guston Scholarship, and Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation Scholarship, and is a member of the National Association of Women Artists Inc.

Helen is back in New Orleans making art in her Lower Garden District studio, near McGehee where her passion for art began.
