Mary Meyers Howard

Class of 1977

Fashion Production Designer

Mary Howard blazed a trail and created the field of set design in the world of fashion photography. She shared, “There was no such career as what we know now as set designer for print photography. Richard Avedon needed a beach landscape for a Versace campaign and that is the first set I built in 1993.” Mary forged quite a path in the fashion industry.  Mary credits Tim Trapolin, her McGehee art teacher, for drawing her interests into the art world and the McGehee culture for being supportive of her creative endeavors. Mary’s artful eye and dedication to each individual project have led her to being the best in the industry--the industry she literally created

“All of our teachers saw us but also saw me as an individual, quirky as I was. They appreciated the uniqueness in each and every one of us and we felt celebrated.”
