Day of the Dead Ofrenda
November 11th, 2021
The Spanish III Honors class and the Anthropology class collaborated on a Day of the Dead ofrenda. Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos) is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and acknowledged around the world in other cultures. The three day celebration (October 31st – November 2) focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas honoring the deceased using sugar skulls, flowers, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed.
