The McGehee Fund

The McGehee Fund provides an essential 10% of the school’s operating budget through voluntary gifts. The flexible support that comes from The McGehee Fund is a vital part of our financial picture that allows us to plan and prepare for the year ahead. Gifts to The McGehee Fund support a number of ongoing priorities, including scholarships, professional development, athletics, and programs that advance an equitable community. In short, The McGehee Fund touches every aspect of school life and enhances the educational experience for each student and teacher on campus. Gifts are pledged and paid within the school year between July 1 – June 30. Contributions are tax deductible, and our Tax ID Number is 72-0408943.

*The McGehee Fund directly supports students and faculty through our operating budget. Should designated gifts exceed an area’s budget, funds will be directed to our area of greatest need.

Endowment Funds

Your gift or bequest to our Endowment Fund ensures the long term sustainability of all that makes McGehee a unique and special place. If The McGehee Fund can be compared to a checking account, supporting immediate and short range needs, McGehee’s Endowment Fund is the savings account providing a secure foundation for the school’s second century and beyond.

Gifts to past Capital Campaigns provided McGehee and Little Gate’s hero moments—historic buildings such as our ‘Alumnae Row’ on St. Charles Avenue, new classrooms, community spaces, and programs that further our mission and fit our school and our students for the future. GiveNOLA Day

McGehee has been the #1 school on New Orleans’ Day of Giving since the program’s inception. We have won over $100,000 in additional prize money on top of our donated funds, thanks to the devotion of the McGehee and Little Gate Family. Our school’s success is due to the synergy between McGehee’s culture of philanthropy and the ideals of GiveNOLA Day—both come from the simple belief that acting together for the greater good of the community is the right thing to do. McGehee’s history of service to the community is a foundational element of the school. McGehee and GiveNOLA Day were made for each other.

Giving appreciated stock may be an appealing way to establish your year-end gift. Stock that is worth more than you paid for it and has been owned for more than a year, generally offers exceptional tax savings. A gift of appreciated stock lets you bypass capital gains tax that could be due if you sold the asset. It also entitles you to a charitable deduction based on the property’s current value.
