Little Gaters Celebrate the Chinese New Year

February 12th, 2021

The Chinese New Year has begun and the Gao and Bui families made some amazing donations to help Little Gate celebrate this special holiday, which is celebrated from February 11-26.  The Gao's donated a book, My First Chinese New Year by Karen Katz, for each classroom AND a lantern and "knot" for each child to bring home.  The Bui's donated a red envelope, one for each child, with something special inside and also made arrangements to have a live performance of the Chinese Dragon Dancers which was a huge hit for students and faculty--socially distanced of course!!

Lingling, Audrey Gao's mom, put together a wonderful presentation to help the Little Gate community learn about this festival and all the students benefited. Did you know that the Chinese New Year or the “Spring Festival” is the most important holiday for Chinese people? Or that the color red is considered a lucky color in the Chinese Culture?
