Harper Montgomery

College Major: Biology

Yet another 14+ Year member has made her mark on academics and athletics. Harper Montgomery has a long list of accomplishments in both regards and recently completed her Senior Mentorship on Genetic Engineering. This year she also served as Captain of the Volleyball and Soccer teams.

“McGehee has taught me that it's okay to take risks and make mistakes, which will prepare me for potential adversity in college and in the future. As a result, I'm not afraid to ask for help from peers or teachers, another lesson I've learned and plan to apply once I graduate,” Harper remarked.

She greatly values her relationship with Ms. Fallon and had this to say. “Over the course of high school, I've come to view her as more than a teacher but a mentor. She is approachable, a good listener, offers great advice, and supports and cheers me on in everything that I do. I'm so lucky to have had her as an advisor!”

Harper’s favorite tradition is Big Sis/Lil Sis. She said, “The bonds I've formed as a result will last a lifetime and have made my time at McGehee very special. Such friendships also make events like May Day super fun as it celebrates the great memories we've made.”

Harper will attend Washington & Lee University in the fall and she commented about why this was a top choice for her. “I was drawn to W&L's community and atmosphere. No matter the person—a current student, parent of a student, or alumni--they all speak very highly of W&L. Their shared love and adoration towards all things W&L is contagious and impelled me to feel similarly.”
