Reeve McNamara
College Choice: Sewanee
This spirited senior joined McGehee’s Class of 2024 in Third Grade and she says it changed her life. Reeve McNamara wrote, “Before coming to McGehee I was very shy and had a hard time meeting new people and now McGehee has given me the confidence I need to make connections. The ability to meet new people and converse with them with confidence will be an extremely useful skill in both college and my future careers.”
Reeve serves as the Pro Tem, a role elected by the student body, serving as the school’s spirit coordinator, leading and planning school wide events, such as McGehee’s beloved tradition, Spirit Day. She also leads the Executive Committee. And she leads with a constant smile on her face and lots of pep in her step.
Reeve’s favorite school tradition is the crawfish boil. She commented, “My favorite McGehee tradition is the spring crawfish boil and talent show! It is a really nice way to get to be with the whole upper school and be silly showing off our talents. One year my friends and I won the talent show with a special dance ( and none of us are good at dancing). I just love getting to eat crawfish and goof off with the whole upper school!”
She had the following to say about her final college choice. “The determining factor to my college choice were the extremely welcoming people and way of learning there. Sewanee has small classes and students have close relationships with the professors (much like McGehee). It is also a beautiful campus in the woods and I fell in love just hearing about it!”
Reeve will graduate in pink next week and spoke about her time here. “McGehee has been super special to me and I do not think I would be the person I am today without it! I have loved being able to call myself McGehee girl and hope to be considered one forever! I just really love my friends and my school.”
