Ashley van wormer

Class of 2004

Obstetrician-Gynecologist

Ashley Van Wormer’s focus on women's health felt like a natural extension of her time at McGehee, where she experienced a strong emphasis on women’s education and support. Her career as an OBGYN reflects her commitment to women’s health, allowing her to assist patients through all stages of life, from adolescence to menopause. She finds joy in the dynamic nature of her work—each day brings a unique blend of clinic visits and hospital care, and she treasures the privilege of supporting women through significant life transitions.

Ashley discovered her passion for the medical field while studying public health in college. Her initial interest in the broader aspects of community health deepened when she volunteered at a free clinic. There, she realized her calling for patient care, relishing the opportunity to help individuals understand their bodies and health. This experience sparked her desire to guide others toward healthier lives and support them on their wellness journeys.

During her time at McGehee, Ashley was active in choir and served on the student council, experiences that enriched her sense of community and leadership. Today, she and her husband Andrew live in the New Orleans area, where they recently welcomed their daughter, Abby, into their family. The family also includes Cooper, their beloved chocolate lab who serves as Abby’s "big brother." Abby is enrolled in Little Gate’s toddler program.
